"the largest post-bellum house standing in Chesterfield... on a slight eminence overlooking the Old Woodpecker Road and beside a tributary of Swift Creek (known on early court records as Frank's Branch) stands the imposing home of the noted Statesman John Winston Jones." Set among ancient trees and encircled by large and symmetrical specimens of Buxus Arborescens, it presents a striking picture of colonial beauty. To the south and in front of the house is a spacious lawn, covered with a soft greensward. Beyond this and on all sides are the sloping meadows extending to the edges of a forest.

Our Dellwood six acre formal garden provides a beautiful location for your special event. The ambiance created at Dellwood is unsurpassed. It is complete with serene sitting areas, arbors dripping with flowering vines, fountains and romantic statues that are thoughtfully placed for your guest's enjoyment. An over five hundred foot stone pathway leads you through the garden; past a forty by eighty covered patio, to a beautiful ceremony site. When the garden is illuminated in the evening, it is an especially romantic setting. Dellwood is the perfect place to have a Victorian Wedding or other special affair like the ones once held here in the 1800's.
